Experience the true majesty and scope of the Great Wall as you hike from Beijing to the Wall's easternmost point.

The tour starts in Beijing, giving you time to see all of the capital city's iconic sights, including the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. From Beijing, you begin your journey along the wall.

The first section you will hike is the scenic but challenging Jiankou Great Wall. You will then visit the well-known Mutianyu Great Wall and experience its thrilling toboggan slide (if you're brave enough, that is!). You will also have the opportunity to spend the night on the Great Wall, camping in a watchtower on the Gubeikou section just like the soldiers of old.

After this, you will continue east, taking in sections of the Great Wall near the former imperial summer resort of Chengde and finishing in the coastal city of Qinhuangdao. In Qinhuangdao, you will hike one of the best-preserved sections of the original Ming Dynasty Wall and stay in an ancient village that was built for soldiers and their families and is still inhabited by their descendants. Finally, you will cross through the famous "First Pass Under Heaven" and end where the Great Wall meets the sea at the so-called “Old Dragon's Head”.

Note that this tour is recommended for keen hikers.

Noche – Aldea de Jiankou

Jiankou to Mutianyu Great Wall Hike – Start from the highest point of the Jiankou Great Wall, Zhenbeilou, and hike east to Mutianyu. This hike is scenic but very challenging and takes around 3-4 hours
Mutianyu Great Wall w/toboggan and cable car – this scenic section of the Great Wall has been restored but is still far less touristy
Lunch – rustic local cuisine

Chengde Imperial Mountain Resort – enjoy some peaceful time in this scenic summer resort built for emperors and imperial families in Qing Dynasty

Jielingkou to Qingshankou Great Wall Hike – this 12-kilometer hiking route is relatively flat and takes around 6 to 8 hours

Banchangyu to Pingdingyu Great Wall Hike – a challenging 5-kilometer route
Late Lunch – Chinese cuisine
Noche – in a farmer's house (basic)

Dongjiakou to Jiaoshan Great Wall Hike – hike along one of the best-preserved sections of the original Ming Dynasty Wall, overlooking the point where the Great Wall meets the sea at the "Old Dragon Head" (Laolongtou)
Late Lunch – rustic local cuisine
Drive to Qinhuangdao Downtown
Noche – Qinhuangdao (have a good rest in a hotel)

Shanhaiguan / Laolongtou Great Wall – visit the well-known "First Pass Under Heaven" and the eastern end of the Great Wall that stretches into the sea
Shanhaiguan Great Wall Museum – learn about the history, structure, and military functions of the Great Wall in this excellent museum
Almuerzo – cocina china
Drive back to Beijing – 310 km, around 4 hours
Drop-off at Beijing Airport – depart for home
