This cathedral is another example of the Western influence on Guangzhou. Completed in 1888, the cathedral was built with funds from Napoleon III just after the Second Opium War. It is the largest Gothic Revival Roman Catholic cathedral in China and all of southeast Asia. This lovely cathedral still holds regular masses in Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, and English.
