China is home to 56 officially recognized ethnic minorities, each of whom has their own fascinating culture and customs. This tour takes you to the southern Chinese provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou to explore the unique settlements and stunning natural landscapes where these minorities reside.
The 16-day tour starts in Beijing, giving you the chance to see some of the city’s must-see sights, including the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. From there you will travel to the Tibetan-influenced city of Shangri-La in northwestern Yunnan province, whose very name evokes a sense of exoticism. After Shangri-La you will travel through Yunnan, including stops in the ancient towns of Shaxi and Dali, and a hike through the precipitous Tiger Leaping Gorge.
The latter part of the tour will take you to Guizhou province to explore the culture of the Miao and Dong minorities. You will get a chance to see some of the region’s interesting architecture, such as the Wind and Rain Covered Bridge, and stay overnight in the Dong minority village of Zhaoxing.
