The Yungang Grottoes are home to the oldest Buddhist cave art in China. Over 50 caves have been excavated, revealing over 50,000 stone statues carved right into the rock face. Some of the caves are only big enough to duck your head in to, while other caves are big enough to walk into and see large stone statues surrounded by smaller statues carved in intricate detail.
The park covers a large area and can take travelers more than half a day to view.
