Gao Yuesong was a prominent artist and scholar in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and in his short 31 years of life he would often host up-and-coming writers, thinkers, and performers at his beautiful courtyard home in Xi’an. 86 elegant rooms are dotted around four courtyards that accurately reflect the traditional design of large estates in Xi’an. Visitors to the family mansion can sip tea in the tranquil courtyards, marvel at the ancient Chinese artwork, and even enjoy a traditional shadow puppet show.
